Scuba Diving…
…Passed my theory test 26 out of 30 tonight. And the whole group of ocean divers passed as well. Should have finished my pool practical next week. Next stop Stoney :)

I get to wear my wetsuit for the first time tonight… Yay for no longer freezing my ass off!

Last night at scuba diving i had right trouble clearing my mask when practising. I ended up swallowing alot of air, which made me feel pretty ill and breathed back abit of water, i coughed alot. But for some reason i was just having real trouble breathing out through my nose, i’d done it on the two previous lessons fine.
I’ve now got abit of a sore throat and a slightly blocked nose, i can only presume that maybe that’s why i was having trouble last night. The cold was there and i just didn’t know it yet?
It’s a fortnight to the next lessons and hopefully it will go well like the rest of them have been.

Taking a drive over to Stoney Cove tomorrow, to go to UnderWaterWorld to try find myself some fins and a mask for scuba diving :) and maybe even a shorty wetsuit if there is a super cheap one. Being underwater is really quite cool!

Had my Diving Medical earlier today…All went well
I’m 1.63meters in height
I weighed in at 52kg (8.18 stone or 114.6 pounds)
103/66 for blood pressure
With a very health 410 for my peak flow :)
The doctor i saw is doubtful if i have asthma (the reason for the medical) as i show no signs of it and thinks i must just get really really ill when i have chest colds. Or in other words my usual GP is handing Asthma meds out like sweets and not really following it up as they’ve never done any tests beyond just listening to my heart and lungs when ill. Either way i’ve got to pop back in a year just incase pressure or salt water has any effects on me. I’ve also been advised to not under take decompression diving (i’m only working toward ocean diver so don’t need to worry about that), to let the dive manager know of possible asthma on dives, carry medication on diving trips (booo got to pay for a prescription) and to follow the advice i’ve been given on some sheet of paper i’ll probably lose in that safe place with in a month.

Making a career choice…
…for ages i’ve been looking at learning to scuba dive, by ages i mean just over a year. When i originally thought about it, diving was just a idea, abit gimmiky and was kind of a fad thought. My work hours were in the way of when my local scuba diving club runs, i had the opportunity to change my hours and i let it pass me by. But this amount of time on and i still want to do it. I’m glad i didn’t change my hours (thursdays hours added to my saturdays hours, making one huge shift) when i initially thought about it, as after researching it again i realise i’d have missed out on trips of a weekend to stoney cove. I’d resent that massive saturday shift for getting in my way and for being a massive boring saturday shift staring at customers. Ok i’d probably have a qualification by now but oh well. And for the past few months i had be struggling to see where my film qualification was going, in my final year i am really questioning what happens next? am i going to get a job? am i going to be stuck at sainsburys for the rest of my life? And then i realised where my problem was, i was looking at lots of uni grads who had specialised; vfx/ editing/ cinematographer etc etc, my course doesn’t really offer the opportunity to specialize it is truly what ever you make of it, it really sets you up for going solo freelance.
So heres my idea, underwater camera opp, it may be very specialised but who cares… someones got to aim for it. and even if it doesn’t work out like that i can still keep my feet dry and film, just i’ll have a extra skill!
Bring on the 30min drive to the next town because work gets in the way!
